I love this article for the reason it was published, and I only wish that the advocate from Aasha could also have mentioned the vagueness and ambiguity of the law under section 377, and it’s title. The law should be amended and they should define the exact meaning they attribute to the phrase “against the order of nature”, because at this point, people are charged under this law for the “crime” of homosexuality too. This is RIDICULOUS because where necrophilia is considered a mental illness the world over, homosexuality is NOT, and if APA’s word is enough to charge necrophiliacs under this law, and offer them a chance at rehabilitation should they need it, then it should be enough to EXCLUDE homosexuality from it’s interpretation as “against the order of nature” too.
Necrophilia is a mental Illness because Psychology says so, but Homosexuality is a mental illness even when Psychology says it isn’t? Huh!

Clearly you are misguided and unaware of the DSM-II which classified homosexuality as a psychiatric illness.
Clearly you are misguided and unaware that DSM-IV, which is what the entire world follows with regards to Psychology and mental illness TODAY, does not even quote homosexuality to be “deviant” let alone a psychiatric illness. You can’t follow a redundant text in a scientific field and expect support from rational and logical people on it.
Of course DSM-II is old. DSM-V is coming out soon in 2013, keep your eyes open for that.
By using the term “redundant” text for DSM-II, which is based on scholarly consensus and is not scientific at all, you have lost all your credibility.
Point is that homosexuality was a disease back then, today it is not included because of social pressure and political correctness.
Necrophilia is as much a disease as homosexuality is. You have no evidence to differentiate between the two. The only evidence is your emotions. You are disgusted by necrophilia, and so are most psychiatrists, hence they classified it as a disease. You and most psychiatrists are not disgusted by homosexuality, or at least cannot see it as a disease, hence they took it out of DSM-IV.
Psychiatry is a tricky business. With most diagnosis based on esoteric criteria, based on consensus, the consensus which also could have its biases, such as feminist stance or whatever, we skeptics are left at the door.
